We check recess depth, spot the out-of-square frames, and plan face fits where a recess will not work. When the blinds are made, the same team comes back and fits them.

Roller blinds, DIY or fitted

Custom curtains are where a measure earns its keep. Track length, stack-back room, ceiling or wall fix, the drop to the floor and how you want the hem to sit are all easier to get right standing in the room than from a sketch. We supply and fit the tracks, then hang the curtains when they are made.

Blockout curtains for bedrooms, sheers for living areas, or both layered on a double track are the usual requests. Melbourne winters make lined curtains worth it on big south-facing glass, and a blockout curtain does more for a cold room than any blind. Bring your colour ideas and we bring the samples.

Custom curtains

S-fold sheers are the single most requested product at our Melbourne measures. Floor-length, hung from the ceiling or just below the cornice, they soften the hard light off a north-facing window, hide the street during the day and make a standard ceiling look taller.

At the measure we check where the track can fix, whether there is room to stack the curtain clear of the glass, and whether a double track with a blockout behind makes sense for the room. Linen-look and plain sheers in a range of weights come out of the sample bag so you can hold them up to the window at the time of day it matters.

Sheer curtains

Shutters are the one product we only sell through the measure and quote service, because the frame has to match the opening exactly. We check each window for square, measure the reveal depth so the blades clear the glass and handles, and plan the panel layout and hinge sides in the room.

PVC shutters for bathrooms, laundries and most standard windows; timber where spans are wide or you want a painted colour match. We bring samples of both. Period homes in the inner east, bay windows in Bayside and whole-house fit-outs in the newer estates are all regular work. Shutters are made to order after the measure and fitted by the same team.

Plantation shutters

Melbourne's weather is the reason outdoor blinds sell here. A mesh blind keeps the afternoon sun and the wind off the alfresco without losing the airflow, and clear PVC turns it into a room you can use in July. Blinds that run in side channels hold their fabric on all edges, which is what you want when a southerly comes through.

An outdoor blind is the product most worth having us fit. Posts, beams and brick each need their own brackets, the blind has to be square to the opening so the fabric tracks straight, and wide spans are a two-person job. We measure between the fixing surfaces, check for downlights and gutters, and recommend spring, crank or motor operation for the size.

On install day we arrive with everything made to the measurements we took, fit each window, check the operation with you, and take the packaging away. Apartments and townhouses are a big part of our work; let us know about building access, lift bookings or body corporate rules when we call to confirm. For new builds and renovations, plans are enough for an indicative figure, and we measure the finished openings before anything is made.
