Plantation shutters are the one product we only sell through the measure and quote service. A plantation shutter frame has to match its opening exactly: a few millimetres out either way and the panels bind, gap or sit visibly crooked. So we measure every opening ourselves, and the quote you get is for the finished job, fitted.
At the measure we check each window for square, measure the reveal depth so the blades clear the glass and any handles or winders, and plan the panel layout and hinge sides in the room with you. You see PVC samples in the room they are for, and get a written quote on the spot before we leave.
Shutters are made to order after the measure, then installed by the same team. There is nothing for you to measure, cut or hang.
Why PVC
PVC shutters are the workhorse: waterproof, easy to clean and right at home in bathrooms, laundries, kitchens and most standard windows. One material through the whole house keeps the look consistent and the blades straight, and on wide windows we split the opening into more panels or reinforce them.
We bring samples so you can judge the white against your walls and window frames in your own light.
Why shutters have to be measured professionally
Shutters are joinery, not fabric. The frame is built to the opening, the panels are built to the frame, and every dimension locks in the day the order goes to production. There is no trimming a shutter to fit on install day the way a curtain forgives a few millimetres. Out-of-square openings, tiled reveals, bay windows and sash windows all need decisions made on site: build the frame out, scribe it in, or switch the fixing method.
That is also why the quote is free. We would rather measure it right the first time than deal with a shutter that does not fit.
At the measure we also settle the details that photos never show: blade size for the look you want, hinged panels against bi-fold or sliding for the opening, mid-rail heights lined up with the window's own lines, and which way each panel should swing so it clears furniture and taps. Those decisions are easy in the room and expensive to guess.
